The Voice of the Sons of God
The maiden failed to understand his voice and movements when he came to her as the Risen One, calling her into a fresh knowledge of himself. But now, in the sacred intimacy of unbroken union and communion, she has learned to be “of quick scent in the fear of the Lord” (Isaiah 11:3, margin). Just a look or a word between those who are in closest intimacy conveys a meaning no stranger can understand. She knows his voice, and she intuitively recognizes in its tone a fresh call.
