The Book of Acts: Chapter 25 (pt 18 of 18)

With everything I just covered, it should be obvious that our God is a God who delights in turning chaos into cosmos. With all the chaos in Paul’s circumstances in this chapter (and we will see later) will accomplish God’s purposes. God will turn Paul’s chaos into cosmos—or more graphically—his dung into fertilizer.

So let me take everything we have covered and ask you something . . . is your life a mess? Is it chaotic? Sometimes, even at you weakest moments, does it seem like it is making no sense at all, maybe even futile? I probably don’t know you, or you particular situation, but I can assure you that our God delights in transforming chaotic, wasted lives into beautiful new creations that bring us great joy—but brings Him even greater glory! Consider what Paul wrote:

So then, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; what is old has passed away – look, what is new has come! —II Corinthians 5:17

One Translation expands that by describing it as “a new species of being that never existed before.” Oh sure, billions of people have received this transformation, but you haven’t. You have become a “new species of being!” The Bible tells all kinds of stories of lives that have been transformed, lives that were once chaotic, but now have purpose, joy, and hope. The reason this can be is that there is a sovereign God, who is so good and so powerful that He can cause all the crudy things from our life, and make them work out for our good—and of this for His glory:

And we know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose —Romans 8:28

Last Sunday I ministered in a Juvenile detention facility and I asked those attending,
How many of you have ever been to church?” Of the 30 kids there, all but one had raised their hands. Then I asked, “How many of you come to these Sunday morning meetings.” All of them raised their hands. Finally I asked, “Okay, you have all heard the message of Jesus’ offer of Salvation. I venture to guess you have heard an invitation to make Jesus your Lord . . . what are you waiting for? Why have you sat through all the messages you have heard, yet have refused to respond to it?”

I’m going to ask you that same question. Have you trusted in Jesus as God’s only remedy for the chaos of your life resulting from sin? Jesus is the only One who can turn chaos into cosmos. I urge you to trust Him today.

So get rid of your anger; stop shaking your fist at Him, and realize He loves you. He desires to walk with you; to comfort you; to encourage you. He is not your problem; He is your source of victory. Come to Him now. Don’t hesitate. Bow you head and say,

“Yahweh, I am asking you to rescue me. I have tried everything else, and none of them has worked. So, I call to you now. Please rescue me. Please release me from my pain and anger. I accept the work your Son Jesus has done for me, and I declare Jesus as my Lord. Thank you, Father. Thank you for allowing me to come into your family.
