Isaiah Commentary (by David E. Thompson)
Pastor David E. Thompson was a radio personality in my home town, Kalamazoo, Michigan back in the early to mid 70’s. Listening to him (and a few others) inspired me to go into Radio Announcing. Well, on June 10, 1976, as he picked up a Bible and began reading, God saved him (for me it was October 27, 1979 @ 2:40 AM).
After fulfilling his radio contract, he moved to Grand Rapids to attend the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music, a school whose curriculum was fashioned after Dallas Theological Seminary. Pastor Thompson taught at the Grand Rapids School of the Bible from 1983-1986. He has pastored three Bible Churches, the first in the Chicago area for seven years, where he was ordained in 1992, one in Idaho for eight years, and presently is in his 8th year at Texas Corners Bible Church in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

I’m not sure what Mr. Fierce considers ranting or raving. I have sit under the teaching of this man for over 8 years and have never experienced any ranting or raving. The only thing I have ever heard come from this man is God’s Truth and sometimes God’s Word convicts and opens the heart so we see the wickiness in our lives. If I am correct, this is exactly what God’s Word is intended to do. We are to inspect ourselves when God’s Word shows us our faults and ask God for His forgiveness and help to correct the problems. So never misstake God’s correction for ranting or raving. So if you are not happy with the way God’s Word is being handled in this case, you may want to do some serious self-examination before making these unfounded comments. Serious exposition seems to be a lost art or gift these days, so I personally applaud Pastor Thompson for his Pauline approach to God’s Word. Scolfield, Miles, Chafer, McGee and a host of others would applaud the work and effort that Pastor David E Thompson has put into the Exposition of the Precious Word of God. In our so called churches today you would be hard pressed to find such wonderful teaching, which is almost non-existent today.

I agree. I enjoy listening to David and I never thought of his comments as “rantings,” simply appropriate commentary. To be honest, I first began listening to Pastor Thompson because I remember him from his days on WKMI, when I was in high school.

Administrator, please remove my above critical remark on Thompson. My apologies to him and you as well for having slighted an outstanding teaching ministry. Thompson packs in more teaching in 5 minutes than most pastors do in 5 months — and Isaiah is a great series.

In a subsequent message which evidently didn’t get posted I apologized for making the above critical comment about David’s teaching. I ask again that the initial post be taken down because — upon further reflection –it is not accurate.
He is an excellent teacher and I was imprudent in stating otherwise.
Again, administrator, please remove the initial comment ppsted under my name and extend a deepest apology to David Thompson for the criticism.
