The Book of Acts: Chapter 20 (pt 14 of 15)

Posted on Updated on

When he had said these things, he knelt down with them all and prayed. They all began to weep loudly, and hugged Paul and kissed him, especially saddened by what he had said, that they were not going to see him again. Then they accompanied him to the ship —Acts 20:1-38

This is the way a man like Paul should leave a church—prayerfully and tearfully. I can imagine what Paul’s prayers must have been like. I’m sure he prayed about the things he had just shared with them about the coming conflict and “wolves in sheep’s clothing.” And I’m sure there were prayers offered for Paul as he set out for Jerusalem and the trials which awaited him there. What a tearful parting it must have been. What a joyful reunion awaits them when they meet once again in heaven.
